Brass 1 is the first instrument collection in the WIVI series. It's a VST instrument and it needs a host, most likely a software sequencer(Logic, Cubase etc) It contains a full setup of the basic instruments included in an orchestral brass section, although all instruments fit in non-orchestral settings equally well.

Each and every instrument included in Brass 1 is a highly developed instrument model, that responds realistically to velocity and breath controller data.

Brass 1 comes in two editions, a professional edition and a trial edition. The trial edition is a free download, and is meant to be used for previewing the engine, and to demonstrate the capabilities of the WIVI instruments. It is recommended to always try the Brass 1 trial edition on your computer before purchase, as it uses an engine similar to that of all full version WIVI synthesizers.

There is a  trial version  at http://www.wallanderinstruments.com

Instruments included in the trial version:

- Trumpet 1 (in Bb)
Summertime.mp3 (performed on the Magic Flute)

- Tenor Trombone 1

- French Horn 1
Mahler.mp3 (performed on the Magic Flute)

Wallander Brass full version will cost $ 599,- * (2007)
Which is big bucks, especially  if you compare it to the other software that we use in combination with the Magic Flute. Also we need to buy a software sequencer such as Cubase because a VST plug in needs a host to operate. For that money you will have a well designed program, no clicks an plops like in Arturia Brass and very realistic brass sounds which will give you a real instrumental feel when you play the Magic Flute. I compared the plug in with  Arturia Brass (stand alone $349,-) and Milestone (free VST). If I play a fast riff then this plug in sounds so much more natural, meaning I don't hear that cheap keyboard sound (too much attack) even if I play slurred notes, very good indeed. So my choice would be a very easy one, if I had the cash.

TIP * It is now possible to buy smaller versions of Wallander brass  (2008) $ 79,- / $ 179,-

TIP To help with Wivi Bb Trumpets real time playing, under Control
Parameters check Breath Speed - a setting of 310% works for my
playing and for Key Attack Speed try 300%.
