The NN-XT is the most sophisticated sampler one can find in the Propellerhead's Reason standalone music workstation. It responds very well to breath control messages coming from the Magic Flute. But you'll have to tweak your sound. Difficult? No it is easy.

1. Start a new project in Reason.
2. Open a patch in the NN-XT sampler.

3. Select the external control source BREATH

4. Open the NN-XT Remote Editor by clicking on
5. To select all samples you hit Ctrl + A

6. Under the Modulation section you can check X (external controller to....)

7. Select LEVEL (External controller to volume modulation) and turn the knob to the right. Now your breath controls the volume of the patch.
8. Try the other modulations. Using breath control will make your patches sound more alive.
9. Now save your new breath controlled patch.

If the NN-XT is used in a combinator sound then you first need to select the Show Devices button and then you can follow the same procedure.

TIP : Bernie Kenerson wrote this TIP on the yahoo windcontroller group:

The Combinator in the secret weapon for using wind controllers in Reason 4.
You can use it to control any parameter on any device.

Start with an empty Combinator add a Line Mixer and your favorite Instrument Device
(Thor, NN-XT, etc.).

Using the Programmer section of the Combinator click on the Instrument under the Device
list on the left. Once this is selected goto the Modulation Routing on the right.

If you click on Rotary 1 under the Source column a list will come up and you can select
Breath Control.

Under the Target column click on the empty space and a menu will come up every
parameter on the Instrument you loaded. Select one and now it is controlled by BC.

This also woks on Effects Device parameters which can get really wild. (Like adding a CF-
101 Chorus/Flanger and controlling Mod Amount with BC.

You can set the Minimum and Maximum for the BC also which comes in handy for
controlling certain sounds and can be used to bring in the sound of another instrument
when you blow harder.

You can control up to 10 parameters with BC for each Device.
