This works well in Windows XP (not tested on other versions)
1. First we have to install a free program: MIDIyoke - Step by step guide
or MIDI maple Virtual MIDI Cable
This lets you connect MIDI from different music software running on the same computer.
2. Set up the MIDI ouput for E-Scape. This is easy:
a) open the Windows control panel 'Sounds and audio devices' (START' menu -> Settings -> 'Sounds and audio devices' ).
b) select the 'Audio' tab.
c) In the 'MIDI output' section, select one of the MIDI Yoke links:
Here we select 'MIDI Yoke NT: 1'
3. Now do the same in our Soft synth or VST instrument - for example Reason, Gigasampler etc
For example, in Reason you go to PREFERENCES and select Advanced MIDI settings:
Select the same link ('bus') , eg 'MIDI Yoke NT 1'
4. Now open E-Scape - when you play you will hear your VST or other softsynth.
NB: make sure MIDI THRU is OFF in E-Scape!
(note that E-Scape normally shows instruments with GM names - but you can change this)
THAT"S ALL!
